I`ve been really struggling keeping my bag inflated recently ,so stripped the pipes down and stuck them in the bath and lo and behold the canmore bag is leaking most of the way along the seam,,question is will giving it a dose of seasoning seal it ??or is it dead, only had it a year

Normally you can use the bag for at least three years, but when you tell you'll play for one year.
How many times you play in a week or regular times...??
I think you still contact your suplier and explain it as well.
I hope for ye its still in guaranty of it. just try....!!!

Seasoning doesn't help because the seasoning its made for natural Hide or sheep skin.
if a small leak and you know the place you can try to use textile glue and follow the instructions.or repair kid that's used by repair Tents.
Hope to hear from you when your have find some solutions.

Helo Denboy,

Go to your suplier. Your pipe bag is guaranteed for two years. See http://www.canmorepipebag.com/faq/faq.html.
Or contact Canmore.

You cann also buy "Seamgrip" at your local campingear shop.
Put the Seamgrip on where its leaking and cork your bag. Set it under pressure for 30 seconds.
After this, let the pressure go and leave the bag to dry for 3 hours.
That will do.

bit of an update, ive got some seam grip coming later today(friend works in an outdoor camping store,, bonus lol)
i thought i would have some trouble getting to the seal inside as its not a zipper bag but success ,with a little bit of tugging it was possible to turn it inside out through the chanter opening to reveal the seam, and low and behold one side of the seam tape has come unstuck for about 5 inches .So plan is to glue it back down with seamgrip and while its inside out give all the rest of the seams a liberal coating just to make sure

I'm still interest whats Canmore have to say.....!!?
ye its true that's normally two years of guaranty on the bag itselfs.

but when you tell its a bag without zipper than you have an old generation.
Please let us know the results..............we can't wait..........

canmore would have had it been under warranty but after turning it inside out date stamp was 2008 dec so no luck there(might have been old stock on the retailers shelf)
back to saga all glued up last night left to set then a final liberal coating of seam grip over all the seams, stocks all reinserted corked up and blown up nice and solid , and left for an hour and just needs half a breath to re inflate to solid(bit of leak around one of the corks)all in all worked out ok in the end for the cost of a fiver for the glue and a bit of time,
On reflection though after plenty of interweb reading I didnt realise the relative short life span that synthetic bags have 2 to 3 years is about average for a regular player before they either have pin holes appear on the outside of the bag under the arm is favourite place it appears or the seam parts,so next bags going to be the old faithful sheep skin ok they need some looking after but if looked after will last for years and years(talking to one piper whos had the same bag 40 years)

Good to reed that all went well.

In our band we play with Bannatyne Hide Zipper bags. It has the feel of a sheep skin bag and the lasts for many years.
No seasoning or other, just a little looking for moisture after playing and regulary put some T-zip fat on the zipper.
